Eliza’s chocolate pudding… yum!


  • 60g (4 dessert spoons) butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 1 capful vanilla essence
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 2 dessert spoons cocoa


  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 dessert spoons cocoa


Grease a pudding dish. Boil the kettle and warm the oven to 180 degrees. Put butter in a microwave proof jug with 1/ cup of milk and microwave for a minute or longer until butter is basically melted. Add vanilla essence and mix in caster sugar. Sift in self raisin flour and cocoa. Stir well until all lumps are gone. Pour into pre-greased pudding dish. Sprinkle brown sugar over top of pudding mixture and then the cocoa. Gently pour boiling water over the back of a spoon ontop of the sugar and cocoa to make the sauce. Place in oven for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with icecream and/or cream.
