My alternative to buying Nakd bars – although these are great and definitely easier! I’ve modified this recipe slightly:

I’m not a big fan of peanut butter (or the almond paste, which tastes basically the same), so I might leave this out next time.

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 150 grams deseeded dates
  • 50 grams raisins
  • 100 grams rolled oats
  • 20 grams walnuts
  • 20 grams almonds
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons almond paste (or peanut butter if not paleo)
  • vanilla essence (optional)

You really need a food processor for this recipe. I used my hand held blender and nearly burnt out the motor! Basically throw everything in together and whizz it up until roughly blended – it can be a bit chunky still, that’s fine. Then place 2 dessert spoons full of mixture onto a piece of clingwrap, shape into a bar and place under a baking tray or book to flatten.

I’m storing my bars in a sealed container in the cupboard. These make a great high energy snack for walking 🙂
